“Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers gave the concerto a highly characteristic performance, digging in where Prokofiev asked for no-holds-barred grit and letting some of the composer’s most beautiful lyric lines sail free of restraint. She has a huge sound, as big a violin sound as recent memory can recall. It is rich and dark where it needs to be, yet silvery and light on the other side of the ledger.
